I'm torn about which way Bush will go. While I think Edith Clement might be in the mix, I still think he may swing for the fences here and nominate someone like Edith Jones or J. Michael Luttig. A pick like those would (a) keep the Religious Right in line and shore up his base, (b) shift the attention off Rove, and (c) put out bait to Democrats to appear "obstructionist" in blocking the nomination. We'll see soon enough.
Hmmm. The word all over the blogs now is that Edith Clement isn't going to be the pick, that it's just been a red herring. Sounds about right to me, but I suppose we'll know soon enough.
