His success makes me sad.
C'mon, SD, the guy made all the right movements. Let's give credit where it's due due.
Great illustration, Mr. T. Isn't that Al Bundy's favored flush, with gold plating and the crown artwork added?
Side note: The article reminds me how much I like and miss the old notation.
There's definitely an Al Bundy flavor to this whole episode, SWA. Can't say I was ever a fan of the show, though. To high brow for my tastes.
It was actually pretty freakin' exciting yesterday. It looked like Topalov was going to force double overtime, but Kramnik made some bold moves to grab a win.
I'm wondering, though. Do they have belts, like in boxing and wrestling? That would be cool.
I used to play a lot of chess about 5, 6 years ago. One thing I never realized about it, until I took it somewhat seriously, is what a mano-a-mano battle it is.
Geekiness and braininess aside, it's actually very macho at the highest levels, with a lot of strutting, preening & gamesmanship beneath the stategy & tactics.
Not saying I was anywhere near those levels; I was, as they say about weak players, a potzer.

Good question. Just a guess, but instead of a belt, I imagine it would be suspenders.
I would think a life would be a valuable prize.
I've been playing chess against an online thingy over the weekend, and the damned thing beats me every time. I hate chess.
The only way to win is not to play.
