One Hundred Ninety Two Countries!

Alright, you all passed the test to see if you could name all fifty states in under ten minutes. Now here's a new one to see if you can name all the 192 countries recognized by the United Nations in the same time span.

I wound up getting only 83 countries, though I blame my poor typing skills and also insist I was robbed on about a half dozen due to technicalities. I'll regale you all with my bitching in the comments.

In the meantime, have at it!

I was denied for saying:

(1)"Bahamas" and not "The Bahamas"
(2)"Bosnia-Herzgovina" instead of "Bosnia and Herzgovina"
(3)"Congo" and not "Republic of the Congo"
(4)"Venezuala" and not "Venezuela"

Biggest goof? I forgot about Switzerland and Belgium. And I almost forgot about Poland.

Oh, I forgot to mention the most obscure one I named: Palau.

Thanks Coalition of the Willing!

Oh my god. I only got 64, and when I saw all the ones that I missed, I wanted to kick myself. (Peru? Belgium? I should know these!) Time to start studyin' up.

I got 112. I, too, got screwed up on the spelling of Bosnia-Herve Villachez, and for saying "Republic of Congo" but leaving out the "the."

Bastards.

Also got tripped on the spelling of Liechtenstein, as well as Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. Those stans are a bitch.

I managed to get Vanatu somehow.

Awesome time-waster :)

I missed 3 states, and I'd tell you which ones, but I forgot.

I got 97 countries. I kept trying obsolete countries like "French Guyana", but I also missed easy caribbean countries like Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, and Dominican Republic.

131 countries. I'm kinda mad for missing Hungary, Iceland, and Italy, and for the love of all that is holy I forgot where the double letter was in "Philippines."

Phillipines is another one that tripped me up on spelling.

I also received no credit for Surinam or French Guiana. Are they no longer countries?

Tried it again, this time without a scotch in my hand, and wound up getting 103.

The kicker? I still couldn't spell Bosnia and Herzegovina correctly.

Tried it again

Yes, I'm reading this correctly, he tried the "name the nations" contest again. :-O

OM allows his inner children, Competiveness & Geekiness, to battle it out! I'm not knocking you, by the way, those two are my inner girlfriends. I love 'em both.

Yeah, I felt ashamed to admit it, but I had time to kill this morning and a desire to see if Scotch-free me could pull it off. I'm apparently 20% smarter when I'm sober.

The Bosnians can still suck it, though.

Darn it. 83. Wasted too much time wondering why "Congo" and variations thereof were rejected. Also, since when is Greenland not a country?

OK, back to baby. T'hous is not wanting to do this quiz, for some reason.

To say nothing of the Herzogovinians.

Or Herve Villachaise.
