He's Sayin' What We're All Thinkin'!

From the AP:
It was a moment brought to you by the First Amendment.

Minutes after finishing a face-to-face verbal assault on President Bush, Harry Taylor was talking about the experience with reporters who covered the president's visit Thursday to Charlotte.

Speaking from the balcony of a theater at Central Piedmont Community College, the 61-year-old commercial real estate broker had laced into Bush for his conduct of the war on terror, his environmental record and his opposition to legalized abortion.

"In my lifetime, I have never felt more ashamed of my leadership in Washington," Taylor told the president. "And I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and grace to be ashamed of yourself."
Well said. Want to thank him? Try here.

I read the transcript of this and I gotta say i was not very impressed. So someone says they don't like the President to his face. Big deal. rather than try to nail him down on any one single point and get him to give a clear answer on something, this guy rambles on and gives Bush an easy out. In fact, if you hear Bush's response, he comes out pretty good. Hell, Bush even agrees with him that he's allowed to do that and that's what makes this country great. I'm not sure this guys needs a whole lot of thanks for saying what so many other people have already said. It's not like he was taken out back and beaten with rubber hoses.

From what I've read, it sounds like this guy might have been planted by Bush's people. It was in front of an overwhelmingly pro-Bush crowd and Bush, despite his comments about letting him speak, was ready with a quick response (which was condescending enough to make his crowd happy). I just find it odd that one dissenter was allowed to have the mic in the first place and even more odd that Bush seemed prepared for it. Hmmmm...
