Best Week Ever!

From Reuters:
U.S. President George W. Bush told a German newspaper his best moment in more than five years in office was catching a big perch in his own lake.

"You know, I've experienced many great moments and it's hard to name the best," Bush told weekly Bild am Sonntag when asked about his high point since becoming president in January 2001.

"I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound (3.402 kilos) perch in my lake," he told the newspaper in an interview published on Sunday.
Man oh man, it's a sad thing when even the president himself can't think of something good he's done in office. Personally, I believe everything he touches turns to shit, but you'd think he'd have something to say here. But, no -- catching a fish is his best moment. Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations.

(Thanks to Firedoglake for passing along the sadness.)

Update: Litbrit over at Shakespeare's Sister makes a good point. The high point of Bush's presidency took place in the lake at his Crawford ranch, a lake that is repeatedly stocked with fish so that the president can catch them in his own personal Special Olympics.

His proudest moment is winning a rigged contest. Hooray.

Sad if true, but I don't buy it. I think he said if for effect, giving the impression he's just a regular guy.

By all accounts, Bush spent election day '04 in a deep funk, sure that he was going to lose. When it turned out he had won, he was cocky, bragging about his political capital. The truth, I'm sure, is that that was his best moment.

That also fits with Rule No. 1 about Bush: Don't listen to what he says; watch what he does.

This reminds me of the South Park episode where Cartman competed in the special olympics because he figured he'd come in first and win prize money and he actually came in last.

Actually Cartman reminds me alot of Dubya.

Very true. Both of them demand that we respect their authoritah, both are crude and stupid, and bothwere coddled by a psychotic mother who warped them badly.

Bush never had a satellite pop out of his butt, but he does spend a lot of time talking out his ass. Close enough.

He's more of a Butters/Cartman hybrid. Actually, I'm surprised that he doesn't have two Secret Service agents hold down the perch while he punches it in the face.

I can just see him shouting "Dubya!"

You silly folks. Don't you know that "perch" is Texas slang for "Mexican"?
