Between record sales and this...

One might guess that the real problem in music is the quality of the artists and the recording industry - not the peer to peer file sharing....

LOS ANGELES (AP) - North American concert attendance declined nearly 12 percent in the first half of 2005 despite the first drop in average ticket prices in a decade.

Fans purchased 14.5 million tickets to the top 100 concert tours from January to June, according to Pollstar, the industry trade magazine.

The tours generated $730.9 million in gross receipts, a decline of 17.2 percent from last year.

Also, I had some forensic scientist confirm that it is a microphone. (Shudder)

okay the dee snider jibe was a good one -- but great point about exposing the crap that the RIAA has been trying to pull for years now. How about owning up to the fact that your business model and the entire corporate structure is just a colossal failure when it comes to dealing with art? How about addressing the ridiculous prices for recording and especially concerts? Support indie rock, but artists should keep in mind they sing and play instruments - they should make a living but for god's sake let's do away with the blingity bling and the bullshit -- and don’t get me started on the sports figures, you play a damn game, quit bitching and get out there and play (okay, ya got me started, sure it has become big business and money is made (pro, college, BS)--let's just fix that, make tickets reasonable and concessions and while we're at it how about stop kidding ourselves about the criminalization of drug usage....uh oh, I stop now.....
