Friday Random Ten

Alright, folks, it's Friday and that means it's time for the Friday Random Ten.

For those of you who missed the inaugural Friday Random Ten here at LLatPoN, along with the ceremonial ribbon-cutting by McDonaldland's very own Mayor McCheese, the rules are very simple. Open up your iTunes or any other, inferior MP3 thingamajig, put it on shuffle, and give us the first ten that pop up.

Here are mine:

1. Merle Haggard, "The Bottle Let Me Down"
2. Greenskeepers, "Lotion"
3. Muddy Waters, "Walkin' in the Park"
4. KISS, "Detroit Rock City"
5. Neutral Milk Hotel, "Holland 1945"
6. Stereolab, "The Seeming and the Meaning"
7. Electric Light Orchestra, "Evil Woman"
8. Interpol, "Evil"
9. Django Reinhardt, "St. Louis Blues"
10. Lou Rawls, "You'll Never Find a Love Like Mine'"

Wow, I really stuck the landing, didn't I? God bless you, Lou.

Alright, put yours in the comments.

My supposedly inferior mp3 device still has the same Zeppelin songs in it from last week. However, I did just figure out how make my own random 10 in media player. I know you mac-type fellas can't handle the manly world of the windows OS, so I won't bother with the details. Anyway, here's my random 10 for today:

1) Whole Lotta Love medley (live Zep)
2) Seven Doors Hotel (Europe)
3) Invocation (Danzig)
4) The Prophet (Yes)
5) Pulling Teeth (Metallica)
6) In the Mood (Rush)
7) The Frayed Ends of Sanity (Metallica)
8) Until You Call on the Dark (Danzig)
9) State of Shock (MJ)
10) Moon Child (Chris Cornell)

No, no, no, don't stop a-rockin'!

Oh, the horror of Yes...a big NO in my book....and I haven't seen said MP3 player yet, but we'll leave that for later.

State of Shock was by the whole Jackson 5, and it belongs only on Beavis & Butthead ("Ti-toooo!") and Pop-Up Video.

And is screechy Chris Cornell doing a song about all the Neverending Story characters? Pay tribute to a manly book, dude (see Iron Maiden).

First of all, nobody does songs about the Neverending Story, except for in the song titled "Neverending Story." There just ain't that much material to work with.

Second of all, you are almost right about State of Shock. It is a song on the Jackson 5's most recent hit album, Victory (circa 1984), and it featured the vocal stylings of Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger (apparently they're not related).

So it could be that CC wrote a song about the Childlike Empress. Is it possible to listen to it long enough to hear any lyrics? His voice makes the blood in my ears boil.

After sweeping up the cobwebs in my head, I have to admit that I was thinking of the song Torture. Ye olde tape collectione is in my mom's basement, so I'll have to dig out Victory for verification purposes.

...are you really listening to M Jackson and trying to pass it off as Mick Jagger?

Everyone's welcome to play, and indeed, encouraged. We're like the Special Olympics in that way. And many others.

By the way, for those of you who've never heard "Lotion" by the Greenskeepers, I recommend you search for a copy. iTunes has it.

A catchy pop song written entirely from the perspective of Buffalo Bill from "Silence of the Lambs" -- what's not to love?
