If I were in Bush's shoes

and i wanted to get this Rovegate/Plamegate story out of the news, I sure wouldn't pick some milquetoast person to be on the Supreme Court. I'd get the most batshit crazy person I could find -- so insane that all news stories everywhere could only talk about that one topic, and all press conferences would be dominated by questions about it.

With that logic we will see senate confirmation on sombody from Alambama like:

Roy Moore - this website actually thinks that he would be the best choice for the job - http://covenantnews.com/judgeroy.htm .

or

Circuit Judge Ashley McKathan - who wore the Ten Commandments on his robe. http://www.inthefaith.com/archives/001499.php

Let's face it, if we want a sane judge, Alabama is Crazier than a shit fight in a monkey house.

I think they should push harder for judge judy -- screw that, let's go to WAR!!! nothing deflects the truth like a good old fashioned take-over, er dispersion of freedom mission....oh what, we're already over-extended in IRAQ and the DOD budget and homeland security budgets are in complete disarray, more war, dammit, MORE WAR that is always the answer, OH KARL, what'll we DO??????????

A paean to Judge Judy and a shout out to Greg Allman? You are the man, Alex (if you are a man, that is). This is what it sounds like when doves cry.

If Bush really wants to get attention onto the supreme court and off of douchebaggate, he should make it into a reality show. Roy Moore, the Ediths, Gonzalez, Pauley Shore, maybe an ex-wrestler or two. Now that's entertainment!

I think it'd be fine if he nominated the judge with the Ten Commandments on her robe. We already have a Chief Justice who put gold racing stripes on his robe because he saw them in a musical and thought they looked cool. Why not just nuts?

CNN has been flirting with the idea that it's going to be Edith Brown Clement, which I think is going to be viewed by the right as Souter in a skirt.

That could be a head-fake, of course, and Roy Moore might be in the rose garden soon.

Clement Clement hands of cement!

He really can be a dick to the press. Remember when David Gregory (?) had the temerity to ask French PM Jacques Chirac a question in French? It was about as normal and civil a thing as you could imagine, but Bush took it as a personal insult. What a douchebag.
