Failing Upwards

So here's the situation: hudreds of thousands of people are now homeless. All their worldly possessions have been destroyed. Those too poor to afford insurance have lost everything with no chance of being compensated in any way. Many others have lost their jobs, which in America means they have lost health insurance. The companies they worked at have been washed off the face of the earth; hardly anyone will be able to wait for them to be rebuilt.

There are thousands of able-bodied men and women who have been plunged into a desperate situation. They need steady employment, housing, food, and a quick influx of cash. What would you do in that situation?

I'll bet the armed forces' September recruiting numbers shatters all records.

And their applications will be sure to be expedited. Anyone who survives the NO disaster will probably be placed out of boot camp survival training.

And thus the Republican approach comes full circle -- screw over the poor so much they have no choice but to join the military. They get their tax cuts at home *and* the soldiers for their pipe dreams abroad.
