Beaten Horse (#1)

It is a "beaten horse" that the "Fiscally Conservative" Republican led Congress is fraud. But this week, in an amazing display of being out of contact with middle America (and reality), they have sunk to a new low.

A bill which is projected to cost $330 billion over ten years, is targeted to support a minimum wage increase (from $5.15 to $7.25), additional "relief" from the Paris Hilton Tax, and $38 billion in assorted other taxes targeted in a lame attempt to prove to businesses that they are supportive (R&D tax relief, etc.).

For reasons, which totally baffle me, the GOP will raise this for vote AGAIN after the summer vacation in September. Why? What would they possibly gain? It will NEVER pass. It has the professionalism of a 5th grade mock trial. It is everything a "fiscal conservative" would ever believe it. Not even spinable.

I guess they are so scared to have the three "I's" (Iran, Iraq, Inept) discussed - they would rather betray their ethics (see Beaten Horse #2).

Moderate Republicans running for re-election have a pretty good idea Democrats are going to beat them to a political pulp. Democrats will use for a mallet how, year after year, their attempts to raise the minimum wage were rejected out of hand by Republicans who control Congress.

Only at the last minute, with polls showing them being held in lower regard than pubic lice and telemarketers by an angry public, are Republicans willing to raise the minimum wage.

But with typical braind-dead overreach, ol' swivel-shoes, Bill Frist, insisted on lacing the bill with poison. That would be the inheritance tax and provisions sticking it to people who make tips and workers in states with a higher minimum wage than the federal minimum wage.

Democrats were right to vote this BS bill down. Now, if they can just swing that mallet hard enough, wham!

Agreed. Just when you think they're in the gutter, they manage to sink even lower.

Man was it heartening to see the dems stick together on an issue that actually matters.

Nice call on the three "I's" Studio. Gives new meaning to the term "the 'i' word".
