Churchill, Lincoln and Bush

Despite conservatives' insistence that Bush is the second coming of Churchill and Lincoln, rolled into one -- and empowered with special Decider superpowers! -- a closer look at the actual conduct of Churchill and Lincoln proves they're wrong. Glenn Greenwald has the goods.

I know, I know. Conservatives will never let facts or history get in the way of their idolatry of the boy-king. But the rest of us should stay informed.

My guess is both Churchhill and Lincoln would be treated like Hagel if they were around today.

They wouldn't have been elected in the first place. One's too fat & funny looking, the other too skinny & brainy.

Likening somone who has based his entire presidency on the notion you can fool all of the people all of the time to Lincoln would just about figure for the 30 percent of the population that still thinks Bush is doing a heck of a job.

There's a terrifically meat-headed irony in that. Yet it's also fitting, in the sense of incompetents seeking their own level.
